This book helps traders avoid developing a difficult-to-break way of thinking. This book was prepared for an audience that already understands the most basic concepts about options. Although some of the material is suitable for rookies. If you do not understand the difference between a put and call or have zero trading experience, I encourage you to begin with the most basic concepts about options before continuing. There are numerous sources of information, but I recommend my recently updated (2013) The Rookie’s Guide to Options, 2nd edition. Another decision involves the pre-planned (I encourage preparation of a trade plan for each trade) exit when the target profit is achieved. If you have no profit target, then you will be hard pressed to exit when the trade continues to earn money. As profits accumulate, it becomes a daily decision: hold or exit. It is important to recognize when there is too little remaining profit potential for the prudent trader to hold. The trade plan helps with making good and timely decisions -- and that makes you a more disciplined trader. Closing the position could also be a gut-wrenching decision that locks in a loss and is made because it has become essential to take risk-reducing action. The book offers a solid introduction to risk management for iron condor traders. The following points represent the foundation of my beliefs, and the book is written accordingly: (1)The ability to manage risk is the most important skill for any trader; (2) Take time to learn about the Greeks. It is not difficult, and it allows you to recognize the risk (and reward) potential for any position; (3) Discipline is necessary when managing risk. It is one thing to say that you understand what risk management is all about, but it is another to put it into practice; (4) Let another trader earn the last nickel or dime on the call and put spreads that comprise the iron condor. Pay a small sum to exit, lock in profits, and eliminate all risk. The iron condor is most often traded as a single transaction, consisting of four legs. About the Author
I first began trading options in 1975; just two years after the CBOE (Chicago Board Options Exchange) opened its trading floor. My strategy of choice was writing covered calls. In late 1976, I was employed by Monsanto Company as a research chemist when a friend bought a seat on the CBOE. We had lengthy discussions about his new venture. Long story short, he gave me an opportunity to come to Chicago and trade as a market maker as his nominee because he did not want to trade himself. I accepted, quit my job and drove to Chicago. That was December 20, 1976 and my life changed forever. I'm still in the options business, 37 years later. I left the CBOE trading floor in the year 2000. Since that time I've been trading my own account — just as you do — as a retail customer. But, I added something new when I began writing and teaching others how to trade options with a conservative bias. My first book was published in 2002 (The Short Book on Options) and others followed. I published a blog for several years, and the contents are still available. My current projects include a) developing this blog at about.com and would love to hear from you with comments, questions, requests for topics to discuss, etc., and b) writing a series of eBooks on individual option strategies. This book will be a bible for every economics PhD student

It is a classical! I know some books are the bible in the respective field, like MGW in micro, SLP in macro. This book will the bible for almost every field (especially useful for finance guy). Now I even think it is better than those survey books by O'Hara and Brunnermeier. Since this book provides all technical analysis.

Fake reviews - don't trust them! The book is not as good as others make it out to be!

All the reviews are from the company. Read them closely and those of you with intelligence will understand that this is not a 5-star PSAT guide at all. Actually, far from it. Do your research and find another book to purchase.

I took both the SAT and ACT early and wasn’t satisfied with other resources. I found this book just after it was released and since it is my junior year this year, I’m glad to have purchased this book. The lesson are written in the style I like and it has so many practice problems, I feel fulfilled. The material is easy to read and understand so you’re spending more time on practicing than reading.

I’m also looking forward to their AP books coming soon since I have a bunch of AP tests coming next spring.

Great Test Prep for PSAT AND SAT

A lot of great practice problems and lessons in this book. This book is unique because it has very simple lessons but a lot of practice material to go through. I receive Test Prep Genius’s newsletter and with another PSAT book coming soon and more practice tests, I’m excited to get my hands on those and get more fulfilling practice for the PSAT and new SAT.

About the Author

Stan Gibilisco has authored or co-authored more than 50 nonfiction books in the fields of electronics, general science, mathematics, and computing. He has worked as a technical writer in industry, as a shortwave radio broadcast station technician, as a radio-frequency design engineer, and as a magazine editor. One of Stan’s books, the Encyclopedia of Electronics (TAB Books, 1985), was named by the American Library Association (ALA) in its list of "Best References of the 1980s." Another of his books, the McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Personal Computing (McGraw-Hill, 1995), was named as a "Best Reference of 1996" by the ALA.

An Excellent Introduction

This book covers all the basics neccessary to get a very basic understanding of electronics and electricity. Providing the neccessary formulas and definitions, this book makes a great study guide, with quizes and tests to help measure your progress. This book is good to have, but not absolutely neccessary because other books might cover the topics here and then delve deeper, but, for someone with no prior knowledge, this book is fairly simple to get through and understand while still teaching you everything you need to know to move ahead.

Great overview

There are countless excellent electronics books on the market, many targeted towards the beginner, but I believe that none are more suitable than this book for reading from beginning to end. If you take the intention of this book to heart, which is to skim the breadth of analog electronics, then you will find it to be a fun, fun read. Use it to create mental landmarks for your further exploration of specific topics. By no means should you expect to design a circuit just from having read this book, because that is definitely not what it is meant for.

The unfortunate fact is that analog electronics is a vast field, plagued with more apparent mysteries than is the field of digital electronics. For instance, many excellent introductory analog electronics books start with the op-amp and immediately dive into 5 chapters of detailed analysis of different op-amps and their circuits. (E.g. what is the frequency response, how to tweak it for temperature stability, what is the signal-to-noise ratio, etc, etc, etc.) That is what a circuit designer will appreciate, but to an electronics novice, getting a wonderful training in op-amps will not open his/her eyes to how anything fits in the big picture.

That is exactly where this book comes into play. It spends a mere few pages on the op-amp, doesn't try to analyze it hardly at all. You learn how you could possibly use it, and you're on to the next topic. At some point in the future, perhaps you might come across a circuit with an op-amp, you'll at least know what it roughly does, and if you choose, you can get another excellent book that focuses on op-amps to do your own design.

I think the market really needs a book such as this one, and the author has done a great service.

Highly Accessible Information For All Electronics Technicians

Stan Gibilisco's Electronics Demystified 2nd Edition is a great resource for electricians and electronics technicians at all levels of expertise. It brings together a very large amount of information without getting bogged down in too much math. I think just the right balance is achieved. It begins with a discussion of dc and ac circuit fundamentals including phase calculations, and makes it seem easy. I could not find any inaccurate or misleading information, just lots of good solid expertise. This book is an excellent introduction to the field and an excellent review for the more advanced reader.

One of the Best Surveys/Introductions to Any Subject

This companion to the philosophy of history provides a valuable contribution to literature, from that standpoint that its essays, collectively, provide an introductory foray into nearly every major category one can think of. Many of the essays are non-argumentative, allowing for novel-like reading. Personally, I have not encountered a body of essays so quickly and easily digested, when it comes to a genre possessing any kind of substantial import. While there were a few essays that I felt were significantly weaker than the field, and, in reflection, not quite sure what nuggets of value could be taken away, the majority of the essays provide concentrated doses of much larger discussions. The content filtering and condensation into these essays by the individual authors is a testament to the editor, with whom I was previously unfamiliar, as the effectiveness of each can be affirmed by simple perusal.

I would summarize this volume’s greatest positive attributes by saying that the writing, front to finish, is extraordinarily clear, the topics and authors extremely well chosen, and the bent/approach of each essay being novel enough that, (I imagine) had I previously read a companion to the philosophy of history and historiography, I would still find value in numerous essays in this volume.

I would recommend this work to philosophers, who, if only reading one book on the topic, this should be the volume used for the survey. I also recommend this work to every historian, especially undergraduate historians-in-training and master’s degree students. Beyond these, others may find some merit in the work, for example, I find this a top rate work for the at-large intellectual, because of the conceptual value and its clarity, which is sometimes threatened, though not here, by the discipline-specific language. Finally, though intellectuals and dilettantes will take the most away from this work, besides students and scholars, there is much to be gained from this work by the layperson, again, just by virtue of the clarity. Individuals seeking to understand what should be considered in writing history, how history is done, and the numerous relevant aspects in the discipline, will find much of worth here.
