I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others but to me for all the action the story seemed to move slowly.

I'm thinking it's just me because the story is good, the characters are well developed and there is a lot of action.
I would be interested th o see if anyone else feels this way when they read this book.

I will be looking for other Leigh James books.

Fun read! Characters have evolved nicely, humor, intrigue, and great use of double plots. I have read this series and seen such literary growth in each new installment. I'm anxiously awaiting the newest entry of Ms. James' works...send lawyers, guns & money?! I highly recommend this series, sit on your deck in the warm spring air and get comfortable.

About the Author
Yousef Haik is currently serving as a Professor of Sustainable Development at the College of Science and Engineering at Hamad Bin Khalifa University. His academic career has included appointments in engineering (Mechanical, Biomedical, Nanoengineering and Sustainable Development) and science (Medicinal Chemistry, Physics and Nanoscience) programs. His teaching and research interest include engineering design, nanotechnology, MEMS and fluid dynamics.

Tamer Shahin is the Chief Executive officer at the Nuviun Company. He served as an Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering at The Petroleum Institute, United Arab Emirates University, as well as at King's College London, UK. His teaching and research interests include engineering design process, computer-aided design, product innovation and process management, engineering ethics, and design automation and optimization.

Sangarappillai Sivaloganthan is an Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering at the United Arab Emirates University. Prior to joining UAEU, he was an Associate Professor at Brunel University, UK. Unsettling and beautiful

I was initially conflicted over purchasing this book based on some of the reviews I read; however, I could not resist the synopsis and had to find out for myself what this book was all about.

I did not find this work to be disappointing in the least. I would describe the book as haunting, OBSESSIVE, and tender, wrapped in cloaks of great love and forgiveness. It is an amazing physical and emotional journey of a man with an unusual gift that often torments him and plunges him into the throes of despair and ruin. At the same time, his eyes are opened to the little yet significant miracles that surround him everyday.

This book is written in a lovely prose with painstaking descriptions of articles of everyday life. It is continuously unsettling and maintains the reader's attention to the very end. A very fine work and highly recommended!

An American Haruki Murakami...

I just finished this novel on a trip back from Phoenix, and I have to say not only the style and description, but the plot itself grabbed me. Unlike other reviews here, I found nothing plodding about the story. I found it riveting, and full of surprises. I'm a big fan of Japanese author Haruki Murakami, and I found a numbeer of similarities in both the beauty of the language, as well thematic and plot. There are elements of a surreal sort of journey and a search for a missing life that spans across thousands of miles. Doerr does a great job of shifting his tale between several key time periods in the life of David Winkler, the main character of the story. This is a brilliant novel, and I plan to share it with friends.

I loved this book

I loved this book. At the same time I can understand why it got so many bad reviews. The prose is exquisite and it is a delight to read. Doerr writes so vividly that we are offered beautiful vignettes in every page. On the other hand the critique that not much happens is also true. This is a book about a person's internal process and experience. I would and probably will read it again. If you love prose that sings like poetry then this book is for you. If you want a fast-paced, rapid-fire, event-filled story then you will be disappointed.

This was great, because it converted unknown unknowns into known unknowns

Before reading “24 Hour Business Plan Template”, by Steven Fies, I had a lot of random startup knowledge but not a conceptual framework to fit it in. This book provides such a framework. Reading it helped my understanding of which topics I know enough about and which ones I need to focus on more. This was great, because it converted unknown unknowns into known unknowns. The book is packed with references and ideas about where to learn more, and I feel confident that I’ll be able to rely on these resources when/if the need arises.

This book also contains a nice collection of startup wisdom. For instance, the risk of wasting time on an untested idea is higher than that of someone stealing it because you asked for feedback. And, be wary of high cost-per-click advertising costs, as this signifies strong competition by established players. Another tip I like is don’t over invest before getting feedback because the risk of loss is much higher.

Bottom line, this is a book written for smart people by a smart author. It does not hold your hand through the process. Indeed, it verges slightly on the edge of providing too little information. But this is the very idea it tries to communicate! Focus on the high-return parts and leave the rest. When you succeed you'll have the luxury to go back to the details you skipped over.

Kandie's book of poems and lyrics has an universal appeal. Many of us have been, or are, in those sticky places that she writes about. It's a wonderful thing to be able to confirm your forward movement. This is an easy book to read; you can jump in anywhere, read backwards or forwards and be rewarded no matter what.
This book is well written, proofed and organized, unlike so many done by small publishers. I would expect nothing less from such a gifted writer and artist.
