About the Author
Ron Curtiss is a music and vinyl record historian living in Studio City, California. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he grew up in a musical family (father a jazz drummer, mother a ballerina) and studied theatre arts and music in his school years. From 1979-1992, he produced a series of cable television music interview programs, beginning with The Boffomundo Show, which featured the likes of Phil Collins, John Wetton, Adrian Belew, Robert Fripp, John Goodsall, Al Di Meola, Fumio Miyashta, Bill Bruford, Armando Gallo, Larry Carlton, and many others. Ron started Boffomundo Music in 2008 to promote his vast collection of prog rock vinyl and his Boffomundo Music Channel on YouTube features various interviews and performances.

CRUCIAL READ FOR PROG ROCK AND FRIPP FANS

This handy little book is an essential for any Prog rock and/or Fripp fans...not too sure what the nay-sayer up there was talking about. IT's not only a great introduction for those trying to learn more, but a great resource for veterans and superfans.

The little book that punches way above its weight.

This is really an anthology, as Ron Curtiss has written an excellent biographical/background piece and the rest of the book is the verbatim text of the actual television interview followed by a series of pieces contributed by other writers. It may take a hard core Crimson/Fripp fan or someone who is into Prog Rock (apparently a select crowd these days) to appreciate this book, which is an extraordinary work. The interests focused on by the material span virtually all of music itself, (rock, electronic, classical, jazz, folk) and the directions taken by musicians and the thinking behind their choices; to the developing technology of musical instruments (particularly that Model T of electric keyboards, the Mellotron), the business end of music, media studies, metaphysical and ontological philosophy, biography and memoir; it IS astonishing. And the writing style is very popular, if not actually a 'pop' writing style, and so very readable. A picture of the Renaissance life of the second half of the 1970s; if there ever was such a thing, and apparently, THERE WAS. This befits the main subject of the book, Mr. Robert Fripp, a verifiable 20th Century Renaissance Man if ever there was one.

Awesome book. Great for fans of Prog Rock and Robert Fripp, but also an amazing look at how an interview can go wrong and right at the same time.
